BUILDING & GROUNDS

Our physical location is at 1690 Hwy 51 S. Currently the building sits on 5.72 acres (as per deed) and the auditorium seats 400 souls. We have a storage building for seasonal items as well as a “bus barn” were we keep 2 passenger buses and an enclosed trailer purchased after Hurricane Katrina in which we store disaster relief equipment. In order to be good stewards and maintain the property as well as capitalize on our location, the Deacons oversee the care of the building and grounds. The beauty of our building and grounds and the comfort in which we worship God can be directly attributed to our Building and Grounds team leaders. As with most buildings, maintenance, beautification and cleaning are never ending and there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved.

LIFE SUPPORT

At 7:10 AM EDT - August 23 2005, Hurricane Katrina roared ashore just south of Plaquemines Parish Louisiana as a Category 3 hurricane and devastated the Gulf Coast in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. In no time money and help started pouring in to assist with the recovery. Three of our members accompanied another church in a cleanup effort and as a result of their report, the congregation at Covington raised over $11,000 in a special contribution. The eldership decided to use that money to finance five more trips by the church to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. As a result of our cleanup efforts on the coast, Life Support was born. Fortunately, we have not had to respond to a catastrophe of Katrina's size since she reshaped lives and hearts, but we have kept our skill sharp helping out at various Christian youth camps and children’s homes. Unfortunately, we have also responded to floods in Millington, TN, ice storms in Arkansas and Kentucky and tornados in Covington, TN, Dyersburg, TN and Smithville, MS. We have purchased an enclosed trailer, stocked it with demolition and clean up tools as well as light construction tools. We stand ready to respond when our neighbors need a little Life Support.

MISSIONS

Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19).

Currently we have mission points all over the world. While spreading the word of God to all corners of the earth, we are aware the mission field begins when we open the door. Click here for details of who we support.

OUTREACH/SUNDAY SERVANTS

The Covington Church of Christ is involved with two main areas of local outreach, Sunday Servants and House to House (Heart to Heart).

Sunday Servants is a fellowship program that meets on each Sunday night of the month at 6:30pm. Members write guest, sickness and birthday cards along with making visits. House to House began in 1994 with the idea of having churches of Christ throughout the world cooperating to seek and save the lost through direct mail. HTH is a bi-monthly publication that has grown to a circulation of nearly 3 million. It is distributed by over 1,100 congregations in 48 states and 8 foreign countries, and has been translated into four different languages. It has surpassed the circulation of the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine, and the USA Today. Every other month we meet together to label the newest edition of House to House to over 2000 homes around the Covington Church.
